Unicode Fonts and Silverlight[February 13th, 2008]

This is an interesting one, we had a post earlier about Unicode fonts, whilst it has been added to the features list for the next version to expose the FontSource property for all controls containing text it did raise the issue of using non-English keyboards with Silverlight.

From what I've seen of Silverlight so far it is not possible to detect key presses from such keyboards, or at least work out the correct character to render. This is an important issue for the TextBox and TextArea controls and is something we are looking into at the moment, but in the mean-time if anyone out there has done this sort of thing before in Silverlight then drop us a line.
