Moving keyboard focus off the TreeView Posted: Apr 08, 2010

I'm using a TreeView as well as several other controls on a UserControl.  I am trying to use the Tab key to move keyboard focus from control to control, as is the convention.  I can tab onto the TreeView, at which time it responds to keyboard commands -- except it does not respond to Tab and Shift-Tab, so at that point my keyboard focus is stuck.  Is there any way to fix this or work around it?

I also noticed that if a tree node is selected, the tree moves the keyboard focus to that node (and then responds to the arrow keys, for example), but if no node is selected, the tree just holds onto the focus and won't let go.

I can use the KeyDown event to look for Tab & Shift-tab myself, and then move focus explicitly to the appropriate Silverlight control, but I don't know what to do if the TreeView is first or last in the focus order -- how do I cause the focus to go where it needs to in that case?  (e.g. if the TreeView is last in the Silverlight tab order, and the user presses Tab, focus should go to wherever the browser wants to move it next.  but how??)

This continues to be a problem for us.  (Bump...)

Has anyone ever encountered this, or do you know of a workaround?  Or is keyboard accessibility just not on people's radar screens?
