Memory problem in uploader... Posted: Feb 26, 2010

Hi,

I try to use your liquid uploader engin to upload files on my server. When I choose a large file (50mb), the browser memory never stop to grow... I try on explorer 8 and firefox 3.5.8 and I have the same results... Is it possible to verify that on your side?

Thanks!

Flyd

Hi,

Are eyou saying the browser memory continues to increase during the upload?  When uploading a file only a small amount of data is read at a time, the full file doesn't get loaded into memory.

Thanks!

Hi,

I have the same problem. The Browser memory grow and when the file is uploaded the memory isn't released.

I did some tests using big files (up to 50 MB), the version of the components is 5.3.1.

Thanks.

Hi,

We have tracked this problem down and will implement a fix to the uploader component in the next version to fix this.

Thanks!

From what I can tell the 5.3.3 release definitely did not resolve this issue.  Memory grows in all browsers for a large upload.  A 100mb file results in 1gb memory allocated to the browser.  I tried playing around with PacketSize, but no difference.  Would really appreciate it if you could still look into this issue as it's the only hang-up with this component and I'm bummed at the thought of having to cross over to something else.

And that's what I get for ever using the word "definitely" in a post.  I retract my previous reply.  It looks like the memory issue I was seeing was due to compiling the uploader project under the Silverlight 3 framework.  Switching to framework to completely resolved the run-up.
