Article List

This module generates a dynamic list of content pages based on metadata settings.  This module is commonly used to generate news or event lists.

To Help you understand how this module works we have a simple example showing how to create 3 news articles and have them displayed by this module on news home page.

Creating the Articles

Firstly we have created a News page, this is a page where our news articles will be listed.  Below this page we have created 3 test news articles, out site treeview structure looks like this:

When you have created the pages it is ready to tag them with news metadata.  This step is the important bit, the News Article module will only list pages tagged with specific metadata.

Firstly select the Test Article 1 news page and select the Page Properties from the toolbar or Page Menu.  Select the metadata tab, this will show a list of all metadata categories currently setup in CMS.

Here we have entered some test metadata, for news articles we must enter a Description and a Start Date.  This information is displayed when the news article list is generated.  The End Date is optional and allows you to specify a date when the article will be hidden from the news list.

When you have entered the metadata for the first news article click OK and save your page.  You can now apply metadata for the next 2 test articles.

Inserting the News Article Module

When the news articles have been created you are ready to insert the actual News Article module, to do this select the News page created earlier, click in the editable content area and click the Insert Module button.

Select the Article List module and click OK, you will be presented with the Article List configuration options.

Here we need to set the Mode to Metadata and set the Metadata Name to News Article.  You can also specify the number of News Articles to display on your news page.

Click OK and save your changes.  Click the Preview button and you can see the News Articles rendered out.
